Mental health remains a great unexamined and unacknowledged aspect of society. It cuts across social, racial and economic boundaries, but it is misunderstood to such an incredible degree that a portion of the population questions not only its impact on an individual but its very existence.

The Miami Marathon weekend is important to BRKTHRU and our evolution for a myriad of reasons, and 2023 was no different. The Miami Marathon 2023 saw a continued partnership with District Running Collective, bringing down upwards of 100 to Miami for the weekend's events. With the addition of a few new faces and a deeper relationship with Frankie Ruiz and the team that founded the marathon in Miami BRKTHRU has found a home in South Beach.
BRKTHRU was again a named charity partner, and if you want to join us in 2024 - no better time is NOW. Register under Team BRKTHRU and keep an eye on our social medias accounts for more photos from the weekend.
The Brownies Present: "MENTAL FITNESS"
Powered by Sweetgreen, BRKTHRU crashed the weekly run of The Brownies - a group of black women with a like interest in whole health. Under the ‘Brownie Agency’ platform, Brianna Agyemang and Ayanna Wilkes have organized a book club, a series of feel good events, and now a running club providing culture, good vibes and #BlackGirlMagic. Look out for more collaborative runs throughout the year.
dr. kendall and Kainon jasper discuss mental health on sway
BRKTHRU partners, Dr. Kendall Jasper and Kainon Jasper sat down with Sway In The Morning to discuss mental health as integral to the holistic health conversation. Dr. Jasper helps clear up several misconceptions of the mental health community, with a specific focus on minority communities and their hesitation in seeking help from a mental health specialist.
Sway makes the point, this conversation couldn't be properly handled within one segment, so here's to hoping Sway has the brothers back on sooner than later.
